ISL6742 Advanced Double-Ended PWM Controller with Synchronous Rectifier Control and Average Current Limit

Description

The ISL6742 is a high-performance double-ended PWM controller with advanced synchronous rectifier control and current limit features. It is suitable for both current- and voltage-mode control methods.

The ISL6742 includes complemented PWM outputs for synchronous rectifier (SR) control. The complemented outputs may be dynamically advanced or delayed relative to the main outputs using an external control voltage.

Its advanced current sensing circuitry employs sample and hold methods to provide a precise average current signal. Suitable for average current limiting, a technique which virtually eliminates the current tail-out common to peak current limiting methods, it is also applicable to current sharing circuits and average current mode control.

This advanced BiCMOS design features an adjustable oscillator frequency up to 2MHz, internal over-temperature protection, precision deadtime control, and short propagation delays. Additionally, Multi-Pulse Suppression ensures alternating output pulses at low duty cycles where pulse skipping may occur.

ISL6721 Flexible Single Ended Current Mode PWM Controller

Description

The ISL6721 is a low power, single-ended pulse width modulating (PWM) current mode controller designed for a wide range of DC/DC conversion applications including boost, flyback, and isolated output configurations. Peak current mode control effectively handles power transients and provides inherent overcurrent protection. Other features include a low power mode where the supply current drops to less than 200μA during overvoltage and overcurrent shutdown faults.

This advanced BiCMOS design features low operating current, adjustable operating frequency up to 1MHz, adjustable soft-start, and a bi-directional SYNC signal that allows the oscillator to be locked to an external clock for noise sensitive applications.

ISL6745 Voltage-Mode Double-Ended PWM Controller with Precision Dead-Time Adjustment

Description

The ISL6745 is a low-cost double-ended voltage-mode PWM controller designed for half-bridge and full-bridge power supplies and line-regulated bus converters. It provides precise control of switching frequency, adjustable soft-start, and overcurrent shutdown. In addition, the ISL6745 allows for accurate adjustment of MOSFET nonoverlap time (“deadtime”) with deadtimes as low as 35ns, allowing power engineers to optimize the efficiency of openloop bus converters. The ISL6745 also includes a control voltage input for closed-loop PWM and line voltage feedforward functions.

Low start-up and operating currents allow for easy biasing in both AC/DC and DC/DC applications. This advanced BiCMOS design also features adjustable switching frequency up to 1MHz, 1A FET drivers, and very low propagation delays for a fast response to overcurrent faults. The ISL6745 is available in a space-saving MSOP-10 package and is guaranteed to meet rated specifications over a wide -40°C to 105°C temperature range.

ISL97801 High Power LED Driver

Description

The ISL97801 is a high-power LED backlight driver with an integrated 36V FET designed to drive up to 8 high-power LEDs in series. The PWM converter runs from an internally generated 1MHz clock. With efficiencies over 90% the regulator provides tight control of LED current and may be configured in either boost or buck topologies, allowing from 3 to 8 series diodes to be driven from wide input voltages.

LED light level may be controlled either by:

  1. LED DC bias current set via the LEVEL pin, or
  2. External low frequency PWM control via the ENABLE/PWM pin.
In both control modes optional over temperature thermal protection of the LED reduces the LED DC bias current above an adjustable set temperature, protecting the LED from thermal damage. An optional fault monitor drives an external FET between the input supply and inductor, providing short circuit current protection for the LED and inductor as well as load dump protection for automotive applications. For low cost applications the pass transistor may be omitted and the fault pin bypassed.

The ISL97801 is packaged in a 20 Ld 4mm x 4mm QFN package and is specified for operation over the -40°C to +105°C temperature range.

ISL78100 High Power LED Driver

Description
